The first e-book with embedded video of the Penguin

The publisher Penguin has released the first e-book with embedded video, an initiative that reflects the desire of the publishing industry to find new readers and boost its revenue through multimedia e-books.

The Penguin Group, together with the Starz Media group Liberty Media, according to Reuters, started selling the first edition of a novel ("The pillars of the Earth" by Ken Folet British, who played in England in the 12th century) accompanied by videos, most notably a television series based on the book, which is a big commercial success worldwide and has sold more than 14 million copies since 1989 when first published.

The e-book for the new device iPad of Apple, which, among other things, is an electronic reader digital book (e-reader). Readers will be able to read electronic books, while viewing excerpts from the television series, which begins play on July 23. As the miniseries progresses, we renewed the video-content e-book with new scenes. The e-book will also contain video interview with writer and a "tree of characters, which helps the reader to clarify the many personalities involved in the historical novel.

The e-book-video will cost $ 12.99 for download to the device user-reader, while the average price of a "conventional» e-book free video is $ 9.99.

Publishers hope the iPad will expand the use of electronic books and make them more profitable. While sales of electronic books are constantly expanding, the publishers resent the political world's largest electronic bookstore Amazon.com, which offers e-books with great discounts (thereby reducing the rate of profit publishers) to facilitate sales of its own electronic reading device Kindle.
